Vietnam Maritime Corporation (VIMC) has proposed to invest in a project of logistics centre and inland waterway port worth VNĐ1.4 trillion (over US$60 million) in Ninh Giang District, Hải Dương Province.
According to the province’s Department of Planning and Investment, VIMC plans to invest in building the Ninh Giang logistics centre and inland waterway port.
This initiative aims to meet the needs of transportation, loading, unloading, storage, and distribution in the region. The plan also includes the construction of a multimodal transit hub to attract potential investors.
The project covers around 27ha and has a capacity of 3 million tonnes per year for cargo. The project’s total investment is approximately VNĐ1.4 trillion and its operational lifespan is 50 years.
The project is expected to start construction in the fourth quarter of 2024 after site preparation is finished in the third quarter of 2024.
Lưu Văn Bản, Standing Vice Chairman of Hải Dương Provincial People’s Committee, said that as the project would use land beyond the dyke, it is necessary to carefully assess the impact on flood drainage and structure.
Moreover, it needs to clarify the connections among the logistics centre, inland waterway port and the province’s general transportation infrastructure in accordance with legal rules, he added
